"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young. Be an example to all believers, in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith and your purity."1 Timothy 4:12

Developing Instant Recall (KIRFs)

KIRFs (Key Instant Recall Facts)

KIRFs are designed to support the development of children’s mental skills that underpin much of the mathematics work in school. They are particularly useful when calculating, be it adding, subtracting, multiplying or dividing.

Each KS2 class is  allocated up to six skills to focus on throughout the year, in line with age related expectations.

The expectation is that children practice these at home in small daily bursts so that they grow in confidence to recall their facts instantly. We will also refer to the KIRFs and practise them in school.

Please share your child’s progress towards learning their key skills via Seesaw. We will look forward to celebrating their learning!

Each half term, children will complete a KIRF assessment with their teachers in class.
