Headteacher/Governor
15/04/2024
My name is Louise Stevenson and I'm Headteacher here at St Mary's. I have worked at St Mary’s for several years, first as class teacher, then Deputy Headteacher and finally as Headteacher. Our school is an exciting place to work with every day being different. We have a fantastic team of staff, parents and amazing children!
I live in a village with my husband and two young daughters. I enjoyed studying for a degree in Biology at Swansea University before pursuing my passion for teaching at Exeter University. I also love story-telling and reading books of all genres.
Working at this school is a real privilege and one I hope to continue for many years!
Chair of Governors and Foundation Governor
30.10.2024 - 29/10/2028
My name is Mary Ann Trethewey. Originally from Croydon, I live in Truro with my husband and our cat Phoebe.
I have recently retired after a career in early education, first as a teacher and then in childminder support for Cornwall Council. I was appointed as a foundation governor in 1991 when our three sons were at St Mary's. They have all moved on, but I am still here! I love being part of the school, it’s such a vibrant and exciting place. There have been many changes, but St Mary's has not lost its 'family' ethos and I am particularly proud of the care staff and pupils have for each other. I am the church Safeguarding Officer for Kenwyn with St Allen and the Safeguarding Governor at St Mary’s. I enjoy music and reading and have taken part in the Great North Run twice raising funds for Mind and Cornwall Search and Rescue. I hardly ran at all, but my face ached from smiling and it was an amazing experience.
Foundation (Ex-Officio) Governor
01/04/2023-31/03/2027
I became the Local Minister at Kenwyn Church in October 2022, and there are many highlights of that role, but certainly one of them is being a little part of St Mary’s School. My favourite aspect is assemblies. The staff are friendly, the children bubbling with energy, keen to learn and grow.
Otherwise, my back ground is in healthcare, and I’ve worked as a doctor in a number of places around the world. I’m still a part-time NHS doctor, and in both healthcare and education we are trying to enable all people to live life to the full. I hope I can contribute along with the other governors as we try to achieve that for all of the children and staff at St Mary’s.
Wishing you all God’s blessing.

My name is Kim Rundle. I am an experienced teacher and have recently become Assistant Headteacher at St Mary's School. I strongly support that our school nurtures and creates a lifelong love of learning. My experience in my role at St Mary's includes examples such as Mental Health and Wellbeing lead, subject lead and safeguarding. I have a son and daughter who have both attended St Mary's. Along with my partner, we enjoy embracing all the wonderful advantages of living in Cornwall especially paddle-boarding and camping around our beautiful coastline.
Parent Governor
01.07.2022 - 30.06.2026
My name is Simon Treganowan. I am a proud Truronian and I had the pleasure many years ago to be a pupil at St Mary’s School. Our son is now attending the school.
I work in investment and property and hold board positions on several companies. Outside of work, I continue to follow a lifelong passion for sports nowadays more in a coaching and committee role although I still manage to play squash, swim and walk the coastal path. I am also a Member of the Diocesan Board of Education.
I look forward to supporting the school in helping all pupils reach their full potential and have fun doing so.
Local Authority Governor
My name is Elaine Badger and I am Headteacher of Lostwithiel Primary School and a Primary School Improvement Lead for Cornwall Education Learning Trust.
I have been a headteacher for almost ten years and, before that, was a Key Stage Two teacher in schools in Dorset, Birmingham and Cornwall. I originate from the St. Austell area and now live in a small village just outside of the town with my husband, who is also a teacher. We have one son, who is studying music at university. I never underestimate what is a privilege it is to live and work in such a beautiful county and enjoy sea swimming and walking the coast path whenever I can, whatever the weather.
I joined the Governing Board at St Mary's as I believe that collaboration and mutual support is essential to provide the very best opportunities for pupils in our schools.
