RE Curriculum

We teach RE through the ‘Understanding Christianity‘ and 'Discover RE’ curriculums.

The RE overviews can be seen at the bottom of each class curriculum page.

We follow the Cornwall Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education, 60% of curriculum time is devoted to Christianity and 40% is devoted to other key religions in Britain.

At Key Stage One we learn about Judaism and Islam, whilst at Key Stage Two we learn about Hinduism, Judaism, and Sikhism.

We visit many local churches in the course of our studies e.g. Kenwyn Church, the Baptist Church, the Methodist Church and of course Truro Cathedral.  We often use Kenwyn Church as a resource in other areas of the curriculum too.  The Methodist Church also run themed reflection areas to visit at certain times of year such as Christmas and Easter, giving children the opportunity to experience spirituality in a different context.  We are privileged to have these resources on our doorstep and use them to support learning whenever we can.
